What iPatent does not do

  • It does not give legal advice. It drafts a disclosure for you and a registered patent attorney or agent to review.
  • It does not file. Nothing is sent to the USPTO, and generating a draft establishes no filing date.
  • It does not search the prior art. The closeness warning compares your text with a reference corpus. It is not a novelty or clearance opinion.
  • It does not supply the invention. A model can state things you never wrote. A grounding check removes figures and citations you did not give, and the support map flags claim elements the text does not teach. The worked example shows what an unedited run got wrong.

Privacy and method

  • Private by default. Your description and draft are not stored unless you ask for a private copy, and nothing is published. Drafts are counted by broad topic, never by their text.
  • Drafted from your text. Open-weights models on Cloudflare Workers AI write every section from your description and mechanism card. Reference filings contribute section structure only; none of their text is copied into your draft.
  • You own the result. Download the draft or print it to PDF, then file it at the USPTO yourself for $65 to $325, or take it to a registered practitioner first.
